Decorate like a dictator with the opulent and aggressive “Silo” end table. A dummy naval round from WWII emerges from a hand-blackened steel frame, bolted to the original turned oak shaft. The tabletop incorporates solid sapele, an exceptionally lustrous African hardwood (sustainably salvaged).
Overall height is 29″ with tabletop at 22.5″; tabletop is 16″ square. Extremely heavy (nearly 40 lbs) – shipping refunded for pickup in NYC.
The US Navy used rounds like these against German U-Boats in WWII. These practice rounds were designed for training drills, and were originally manufactured in Brooklyn. The shaft was made from oak, to preserve metal for the war effort.
